Dr. Peter Brimblecombe, Dr. Frederick Dane Westerdahl, Dr. Zhi Ning from City University of Hong Kong and Dr. Jianhui He from Chinese University of Hong Kong visited Key Laboratory of Aerosol Chemisty and Physics on 16th and 17th of April, 2015.
In the morning of April 16, Dr. Peter Brimblecombe, Dr. Frederick Dane Westerdahl, Dr. Zhi Ning and Dr. Jianhui He visited the Key Laboratory and listened to laboratory research progress report. Following that, Dr. Peter Brimblecombe gave a report of "Chemistry of salts and crusts relevent to the conservantion of heritage materials", introduced the problems existing in the cultural heritage sites around the world, stated the reactions occurring on the surface of the heritage materials, and also analyzed the mechanism causing the damages to the heritage materials. In the afternoon, Dr. Frederick Dane Westerdahl shared his 40 years reserarch experiences, introduced the problems which should be noticed in selection, calibration and quality control of online monitoring instruments comprehensively, and communicated with the operators of laboratory instruments deeply. In the afternoon of April 17, Dr. Zhi Ning introduced R&D of new type sensors and case studies of application, and explained the controls and methods of humidity calibration of electrochemic sensor. After that, he had a warm discussion with attendant tutors and students.
This seminar is a long time summarization of accumulation of experiences, covering applicability, scientificalness and innovativeness. It can improve the awareness of the lab technicians a lot.
