The key of Aerosol Chemistry and Physics (KLACP) is affiliated to Institute of Earth Environment with 35 staff working in it. The current lab director is Professor Junji Cao, and chairmen of the academic board are Academician An and Professor David Y. H. PUI. KLACP aims to meet the urgent need of China in aerosol research and in the advanced aerosol science. Meanwhile KLACP participates competitions and communications from home and abroad. The scientists from KLACP collaborate with scientists from other prestigious research institutes in a long term in researches of dust, back carbon, organic aerosol and PM2.5. The results of collaboration have a significant influence in those research fields. Over 20 years’ efforts, KLACP now grows into an outstanding research institute in the world.
KLACP takes the lead conducting researches in the national aerosol science field. The current focuses are in atmospheric aerosol research, atmospheric environmental research, indoor air pollution research, the physical and chemical characteristics and source apportionment, distribution of PM2.5. Through the observation and simulation of the past and present environment, the scientists in KLACP are able to study the significance and role aerosol played in the change process of global atmosphere, therefore to provide the scientific evidence for dust storm prevention, mitigation of the particle pollution in urban place and the soil erosion in Loss. KLACP set a number of sampling sites in cities located in western of China, and possesses a wide range of sampling instruments and state-of-art analytical instruments. It is able to analyze aerosol samples with a holistic method.
Currently, KLACP undertakes a number of national projects from central government, national natural science foundation of China, and Chinese Academy and Sciences. The lab has been published over 200 papers in Science, PNAS, JGR, ACP ES&T, AE and so on. And the citation frequency is as high as t 3000 times, which post a profound influence on aerosol science.
